Day 3 of a FAMILY CHRISTMAS-Sang GOSPEL MELODIES
On the 3rd day of Christmas,
My family and me,
SANG GOSPEL MELODIES…
Sometimes as a 21st century family, I worry if my children are getting big enough portions of a spiritual diet.
Wi-fied, Facebooked and X-boxed up, leaves little room, for gaining the discipline of hearing that “small still voice.”
But something MAGICAL HAPPENS in my home when Mommy has had enough of the zoned-out-“I didn’t hear you Momma”-responses-WE UNPLUG.
“Turn it off. It’s Sunday-time to-WORSHIP.”
I usually get a little attitude or a , “Mommy wait can I just… (finish my game, finish my text, finish my “selfy”.
But soon, gospel melodies saturate our home- choking out Instagram notices and awaited chats on XBOX live.
From “old school” Cece Winans to “new school’ “Tye Tibbetts, we split harmonies, participate in “Praise Off’s and sing with fullness in the beauty and wonder of God’s presence.
On this third day of a family Christmas chose three of your favorite gospel carols-print or write out the words, post them on the fridge or give to your children to learn, discuss and worship together.
The three songs I shared with my children are:
Joy to the World -by Whitney Houston
Got tell it on the Mountain-by Cece Winans
Jesus is the Reason-by Kirk Fraklin
